Important rules before taking initiation which one has to follow until the last breath
1 Tobacco, Alcohol, Non vegetarian food Prohibited
- It is prohibited to consume tobacco such as cigarette, hukkah, beedi etc.
- It is prohibited to consume alcohol such as beer, whiskey, wine etc.
- It is prohibited to take snuff, sulfa (a wad of tobacco smoked in chilam), opium, cannabis and other intoxicating substances.
- It is prohibited to consume non vegetarian food such as meat, egg fish etc.
One cannot even assist anyone i.e. one cannot even bring, give, buy or help buy this stuff for their friends family etc. Doing wrong and assisting wrong are both highly sinful. These are like venom in the path of bhakti.
2. Observing Fasts, going on Pilgrimage prohibited
- It is prohibited to observe fasts.
- It is prohibited to go on pilgrimages.
- It is prohibited to take a holy dip in a river such as Ganga etc.
- It is prohibited to go to any other religious place for the sake of bathing or seeing.
- It is prohibited to visit any temple or place of pilgrimage of a favoured deity with the feeling of devotion or worship thinking that God is in this temple.
3. Rituals following someone's death prohibited
- It is prohibited to perform useless rituals following someone's death such as picking up ashes, offering pind etc, doing terahmi, chhHmahi, barsodi, pitar-worship, tomb-worship, shraadh etc.
This body made up of five elements is like a dress. The main object is the soul. The soul has gone into a new body based on one’s deeds. Misled by ignorant people, we keep performing rituals after one’s death, which is useless.
4. Worship of any other Gods/Goddesses prohibited.
5. Eating food remnants of a person who consumes intoxicating substances and meat prohibited.
6. Playing cards and Gambling prohibited.
7. Dancing and singing vulgar songs prohibited.
8. Performing any type of yagya, hawan, religious ritual at home without the permission of your Guruji prohibited.
9. Practicing untouchability prohibited.
We are all children of One God. When God has not discriminated between men and women of any caste or religion, then why should we?
10. Giving and accepting dowry prohibited
11. Following Vastukala or Jyotish/Astrology prohibited.
If someone will violate any of the abovementioned rules, they will become devoid of naam.
